We calculated the density in terms of residents and jobs per hectare within the 5 communities - at the neighbourhood and block scale - so that people can understand what the built-form looks like in relation to density targets set out in the Provincial Growth Plan.  The visuals and analysis in the 5 case studies also encourage users to look beyond the height of the buildings. We chose 6 neighbourhood attributes or indicators that are key drivers of complete communities to help us understand what progress is being made within each community toward becoming a great place to live.

Our methodology can be easily replicated and can be used by municipalities, university courses, or volunteers to undertake additional case studies that could be shared on this website. The existing case studies could also be regularly updated to assess what progress is being made towards becoming complete communities. We want this site to be a contribution to the ongoing conversation about managing growth and building great communities.
